The Sixth China Foundry Quality & Standard Forum
China Foundry Quality & Standards Forum has been held six times since the first forum on the production of grey iron and ductile iron castings & standards was co-hosted, in 2009, by the National Technical Committee 54 on Foundry of Standardization Administration of China, the Quality Standards Working Committee of Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (FICMES), and the Quality Standards Working Committee of Chinese Foundry Association. This year is the sixth forum which was held on May 14-17, 2013, in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province. The theme of the forum is the New Casting Processes and Quality Control of Iron Castings.
In recent years, several new cast iron standards have been developed and/or amended. Before they are officially published, it is necessary for the standards interpretations committee to deliberate in meetings open to public observation. It is also the responsibility of the National Technical Committee 54 to make national standards in the casting market understandable, enforceable and acceptable to foundry companies and enterprises as soon as possible; and to promote the use and rigorous application of these standards. China is the largest castings producing country, especially iron castings, but it is not advanced in casting technology. There are many enterprises producing iron castings in China, each aspiring to develop and deliver high-quality castings to users. Improving the casting quality is the constant thorny problem. The forum provided a good opportunity for these enterprises to hold face-to-face communication.
